Elements of a Good Paragraph A single paragraph in an essay should be focused on a single topic. If it begins with one focus or major point of discussion, it should not end with another or wander between different ideas. This trait of a paragraph is known as . Another trait is coherence. Coherence is the trait that makes the paragraph easily understandable to a reader. It can be of two types: the logical bridge or the verbal bridge. The logical bridge is where the is carried from sentence to sentence. Successive sentences written in parallel also form a logical bridge. A verbal bridge is where the key words are used in several sentences or are used to link two ideas. A topic that is being discussed should be done fully and adequately.
