This is the answer because around this time, African American's were made to eat in the kitchen away from the white Americans when company or guests were over. The author says that when we reach a point where all Americans are equal nobody will make him eat in the kitchen. So the author is saying that they need to be treated as anyone else is, the man in the poem says "Tomorrow, I'll be at the table when company comes. Nobody'll dare say to me, "Eat in the kitchen," So he is  demanding the right to be treated as the white people.
