The tiniest piece of plastic that got blown into the ocean can hurt the sea life. now imagine that times millions. Every day, about 8 million pieces of plastic end up in our oceans. That's a lot. Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic is in our ocean. Sea life doesn't know any better than to try to eat a straw, thinking that it is something they normally eat. sea turtles might get caught in a net, a plastic bag could get stuck on the coral reef, or a small fish swims into a plastic bottle and doesn't know how to get out. How do we stop this problem? Well, there are deep sea divers that try to pick up as much plastic as possible on a daily basic, and other kinds of things that get the plastic out of the ocean. As for preventing more plastic, well, throw your trash in a trash can instead of the ocean.
