Have you ever been to a football game or watched one on TV to see the cheerleaders hyping up the crowd? They do a great job at getting the spectators to cheer for the players, keeping everyone excited, and maybe that excitement even helps the players to win. I’m not saying cheerleaders don’t have a purpose, but I do think we should all agree that those actions aren’t a game and that cheerleading is not a real sport. Sports are competitions between two teams or athletes. Games are usually played within a conference or division, so that teams can climb higher up the hierarchy to win the ultimate prize. This clearly does not apply to cheerleaders that are energizing a crowd.
