Flander's Field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead; short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe!
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high!
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Question: How does the second stanza of contribute to the meaning of the poem?

faithful servants eumaeus and philaetius:

his ragged vest then drawn aside disclosed the sign conspicuous, and the scar exposed: eager they view'd, with joy they stood amazed with tearful eyes o'er all their master gazed:

these servants know ulysses by the scar he got when he was a child - so when he showed them the mark, they immediately knew this is truly their master and they hugged him, finally starting to believe his words.

brutus overlooks that the majority of the crowd served julius caesar the military general. he appeals to their citizenship as romans by calling them first by that name in his salutation: "romans, countrymen, lovers." mark antony, however, speaks in terms understood by the military, by calling them first by, "friends, romans, countrymen." he recalls not only caesar the general but caesar the friend, whose body they see covered with stab wounds.
