An American psychologist by the name of Dr. Lawrence Kohlberg performed research by interviewing a group of boys about their moral decision-making to answer the question "How do we tell right from wrong?" From his research, Kohlberg was able to come up with a theory to describe the different ways that human beings make moral choices that also describes how he believed our decision-making changes from childhood to adulthood. His theory Kohlberg identified three levels of moral reasoning: Pre-conventional , Conventional , and Post-conventional.
