For this assignment, you will write a personal narrative essay that relates thematically to Shirley Jackson’s short story, “The Lottery.” In Jackson’s story, she explores issues related to conformity, so you can use the ideas you developed in assignment #5 to guide your writing. In your personal essay, you will relay an experience and/or your beliefs about conformity. Remember, every piece of writing should have a purpose, so make sure your purpose is clear throughout the essay. Your personal narrative must have at least five-paragraphs and must be in MLA format (I’ve started the headings for you on the following page).. Because this is a personal narrative, you are allowed to use first-person pronouns (I, me, my).
