To gain a deeper understanding of the 1920s we are going to write a historical narrative.
In this narrative, you will assume the character of someone who lived during the 1920s. You will tell about life in the 1920s from the perspective of your character.
Possible narrative characters:
Al Capone or a gangster working for Al Capone or a rival to Al Capone
Flapper
A farmer in the Midwest
Black jazz musician – Male or Female
Baseball player – White or Negro League
Author/artist during the Harlem Renaissance
Sharecropper in the South
Bootlegger
Today we will examine pictures of each of the characters above to help narrow down your choices for the narrative.
As you examine the pictures relating to each character – answer the questions below on a separate sheet of paper. You should answer all four (4) questions for each of the stations.
1. Do the pictures make you feel the 1920s were a positive or negative time?
2. What specific details from the picture give you positive or negative feelings?
3. Is there anyone/anything in any of the pictures you can relate to? If yes what/why?
4. Would you consider this topic for your narrative? Why or why not?
(Note: if anyone has time. need to pass. I'm doing a another project so I don't have time to do this one.)
