In "Love Song, With Two Goldfish", the female fish is unhappy in her relationship with the male fish. In "To My Dear and Loving Husband", it seems that both the man and woman are happy. Their marriage is described as a union.

In "Love Song, With Two Goldfish", Grace Chua tells a love story about the two fishes - a male fish that wants to get the attention of the female fish.  By describing the relationship between the fishes, the author provides a metaphor for a relationship between a man and woman. The two fishes are forced to live in a bowl, so their love lacks adventure. The female fish wants "a life beyond the bowl", which the male fish, hard though he tries, cannot give to her. The female fish is, therefore, clearly dissatisfied with their relationship.

In Anne Bradstreet's poem, "To My Dear and Loving Husband", we have a different relationship. Namely, the speaker of the poem describes her love for her husband, celebrating their union and happiness. She claims that she can never repay him for the love that he gives her. It seems that these two people are very happy in their marriage and satisfied with what they have.
