Yes, witch hunts still exist in America today.

At the time, the witch hunts were religious persecutions of certain women who, due to their thoughts or their way of acting, were considered immoral, unethical and aberrant to religion, for which they should be punished despite the fact that, as is known, They did not have any characteristics that would identify them as witches or other evil or ghostly beings.

At present, this phrase is applied to public persecution (whether political or through the media) that is carried out against certain groups or social sectors for reasons that, ultimately, are not attributable to them or do not cause any harm. A clear example of this was the discrimination suffered by Asian Americans during the health crisis caused by the corona.

The main way to avoid these situations is through education, that is, educating the population within the framework of respect for diversity and differences of opinion or origin, so that what is different is not negative.

Witch Hunts are ongoing today in America. Not in the same way that they used, usually people don't go around and rip women from their homes and burn them on a stake anymore, but witch hunt is a "hunt" directed to a person, or group of people, that hold different (usually unpopular) views.

This can be exampled by people going after someone of a different religion (such as men ripping off the Hijab off of a Muslim woman) or of a different race (such as someone going after their Asian neighbor(s) because of some of their cultural views)

In my opinion we can put an end to them by learning how to accept others for who they are, and learning that because someone is part of a different religion, that doesn't automatically make them a bad person (even if they are part of a religion that people immediately associate with bad things)

Outside of America though, people do still actively burn people at the stake (so to speak) for being Witches.

The man thinks she's the lady he's trying to find. she then lifts the veil and he announces that he'd made a mistake and that he'd thought she was the woman, but had been wrong. truthfully, though, he'd been right. this reveals that the he didnt recognize her (though he said he would recognize her voice or her build) and that he's still looking for the girl. he doesnt find the woman appealing or attractive, and is more or less disgusted by her appearance. he didn't understand what the lady meant when she told him the story about her "friend"
