The dragons in the story created a permanent water supply for everyone. They did not need to worry about having a supply of water from the Jade Emperor anymore. The Jade Emperors lack of response to the peoples need showed the dragons and the people what needed to be done.

The question is from a popular Chinese folktale, "The Four Dragons." The story narrates the kindness of four dragons, Yellow Dragon, Black Dragon, Pearl Dragon and Long Dragon. The dragons decide to help drought stricken people at the cost of their lives and reputation.

The paragraphs, 18, 19 and 27 (CommonLit) convey the dragons' sympathy for the people and their willingness for sacrifice.

“But,” said the Long Dragon after thinking a bit, “we will be blamed if the Jade Emperor learns of this.”

each year on this day, i make it a point to listen to dr. martin luther king jr.’s great “i have a dream” speech. it’s electrifying every single time.

the content of dr. king’s speech, his inspiring presence, and the moment in history all came together to make the iconic “i have a dream” speech the defining moment of the american civil rights movement. but there are several other reasons why this speech, delivered over 50 years ago, remains an example of one of the best speeches in american history.

since part of my job is to people become better presenters, i’ve noticed several techniques that we can all learn from and be inspired by in this magnificent speech.
