First 4 Chapters in Siddhartha

Last week, you read chapters 1-4 in Siddhartha. Want to know something cool about this novel? Chapters 1-4 represent the 4 noble
truths. For today, please review each of the noble truths. Recall,
1. All life = suffering
2. The origin of suffering is attachment (desiring/wanting)
3. To end suffering, detach (stop desiring/wanting)
4. It is possible to stop desiring/wanting by following the eightfold path

For your assignment, write about each of the first four chapters related to the correlating noble
truth. For example:
1. Chapter 1: First Noble Truth - All life equals suffering
2. Chapter 2: Second Noble Truth - The origin...
List out the four chapters and then explain how that chapter supports the idea of that noble truth. You should write one paragraph for
each chapter at most. Include a specific reason (give an example using characters, concepts, etc.) for each chapter as to why the
chapter describes/fits that noble truth.

1. in the bold portion of the narrative, the author tries to use a flashback to develop tension. however, the flashback does not create tension. rewrite the flashback scene so it develops tension right at the beginning of the story. (15 points)
