In the film adaptation, how is the scene with the Malay
mancatcher different?

change?
So intent was the Cossack on his stalking that he was
upon the thing Rainsford had made before he saw it. His
foot touched the protruding bough that was the trigger.
Even as he touched it, the general sensed his danger and
leaped back with the agility of an ape. But he was not
quite quick enough; the dead tree, delicately adjusted to
rest on the cut living one, crashed down and struck the
general a glancing blow on the shoulder as it fell; but for
his alertness, he must have been smashed beneath it. He
staggered, but he did not fall; nor did he drop his
revolver. He stood there, rubbing his injured shoulder,
and Rainsford, with fear again gripping his heart, heard
the general's mocking laugh ring through the jungle.
"Rainsford," called the general, "if you are within sound
of my voice, as I suppose you are, let me congratulate
you. Not many men know how to make a Malay
mancatcher."

hmm, sadly there is no dialogue. there is no place in the story where he is talking to anyone. it's more of just describing what he eats and where he sleeps. you have to become anne frank, give details of where you are, what other folks look like, how the environment is. have a little bit of dialogue tell of what people are specifically saying. anne frank talked about her entire household including the people, the objects, the lighting, the food they ate, and even the smell in the air. there has to be more to your diary entries, the whole story in its current state is only about peter van daan, the food, the sounds, and where he sleeps. also he seems to be writing only once a year yet more than that happened from day to day. for a friend, i can you write it out, if you want.

a test i would say we need more information : (

you could write about how your feeling. you can talk about times ou thought about the friend in particular.

example, you think about the time you've spent with that friend. like if you had sleep overs at each others place, or activities you did together like going to the movies.

you could talk about others who miss him/her like school mates to neighbors around.
