How does Alan Weisman most clearly use text structure to prove his point?

He describes how nature will reclaim a city over the course of many years. The World Without Us by Alan Weisman depicts what would happen to the environment if humans abruptly vanished. He describes how cities would be reclaimed by nature and how surviving lifeforms would develop. Residential neighborhoods would grow into forests within 500 years.
