Anna wrote this paragraph to answer the following research question: "What was one cause of the Great Depression?”

Supply and demand was one major cause of the Great Depression. During World War I and the years that followed, farms and factories were producing large quantities of goods. However, wages did not rise even as the cost of these goods did, so many people could not afford these goods and services. As factories and farms realized this, they cut back on production and laid off workers, leaving more and more people unable to purchase goods and services. A lot of men began to roam the countryside looking for new jobs. Thus, the trend continued: as more people were unable to buy things, more workers lost their jobs.

Based on the research question, which is a relevant fact or detail that could be added to Anna’s paragraph?

Now known as Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, is the day that stock prices plunged and millions of dollars were lost.
A lack of rain and years of overgrazing, plowing, and erosion led to what is now referred to as the Dust Bowl.
Breadlines and soup kitchens were two ways in which people attempted to help those less fortunate during the Great Depression.
The spiral continued until 25 percent of the population was unemployed and unable to purchase goods and services.
