Read this excerpt from "Daedalus and Icarus,"
Daedalus and [Icarus) packed up their supplies and got
ready to leave on the next boat. However, King Minos
stopped them at the dock. "I would like you to stay," he
said. "I have other projects for you to do." Then the king
smiled kindly and held up two large bags of gold. Will this
persuade you?" he asked
"No, thank you." Daedalus replied. I'm not interested in
another project
The king's face gren red, and he became very upset
"Perhaps I should tell the gods that you can create as well
as they do. Will that persuade you to stay?" the king asked.
"You know how much they hate it when humans try to act
Eke gods."
Daedalus wants to build something for the king, but the
king does not offer Daedalus enough gold.
Daedalus does not want to work for the king anymore,
and the king is unhappy about that
Daedalus and Icarus are just about to leave the castle
on a boat, but the king wants to talk to them.
Daedalus and Icarus have been acting Ike gods, and
the king threatens to tell the villagers about them.
