The format and clarity of the medical record must be such that it can be copied, microfilmed or even scanned electronically for storage. Consequently, handwritten entries must be made in which color of ink

   Blue or black ink only

Explanation:  In order to copy, microfilm or scan medical records, all handwritten information should be recorded in blue or black ink. No other ink, that is, in any other colour, should be used for these records or the use of a pen. Also, the blue and black ink must not be soluble, therefore it must not be soluble in water or any other fluid, means it must be permanent ink. Some people say that black ink is better because of the contrast of what is written in the record, but for the authenticity of the record it is better to use blue ink, because, for example, a copy will be in black and white.
