Socrates rejects this definition both because he believes that it is incorrect and because he believes that it is impractical. Explain why he believes that it is incorrect. Pious means devoutly religious but it also means compassion or pity that is showed for other people; and according to Socrates the Gods don´t have anything to do with that.

I guess he also finds it impractical for the human race to try to please the Gods when you should be helping people instead.
