In shakespeare's "hamlet," what is some textual evidence that could suggest that ophelia was actually pregnant with hamlet's child during the play? so far, i've noticed a few things:
1. conversations between hamlet and polonius are full of innuendos relating to ophelia and her virginity;
2. ophelia saved some rue for herself when handing out flowers, and rue is a known abortifacient;
3. ophelia's songs clearly allude to her intimate physical relationship with hamlet;
4. drowning was a common method of suic*de for unmarried pregnant women at the time, and ophelia drowned herself.
