Benjamin Franklin wrote the essay ‘the way to wealth’ in 1758. The essay advocates  Industry and frugality as the essentials to achieve financial success.

Benjamin Franklin started an annual almanac known as ‘Poor Richard’s Almanac’ in which he published his essay  on how to achieve fiscal success. he himself is poor Richard who spreads wisdom through his almanac.

The essay talks about idleness , pride and folly as being detrimental for a person.  It is full of wise maxims like ‘sloth kills faster than labour wears’ and ‘Drive thy business, let not that drive thee.’

One should work hard and not shy away from hard labour as a working man will not be struck by hunger or bad luck. Hoping for things will not lead to any results. Working to make things better will reap fruits, it earns a man respect in society.

Each hour should be spent wisely and not wasted. Put to full use.  Placing much trust in others is also not wisdom. It ruins.  He also says that one should not spend on luxuries like dear clothes. They are not necessities. They have doomed many a man.
