A few years ago, my parents encouraged me to pick an extracurricular activity, and although I knew they expected me to pick something related with sports, I chose an art related activity.

This could be a way of introducing the topic. You are asked to write a rough draft, so here you will be creating an outline.

Rough Draft following the previous example:

My parents gave me the possibility of choosing an extracurricular activity, I know they expected me to pick football, but my secret interest was to know how to play guitar.

At first, I did what I knew they wanted for me and start practicing football. Actually, it was very fun. I had a great time and met a lot of people, but deep down inside my real interest was still very awake.

After two months of football practice, I told my parents that I liked football, but that my real goal was to play the guitar. I didn't know what to expect from them, because my big brother has always been great at every sport, but they really understand me and were very supportive.

They help me find the best teacher, and the next week I was starting guitar lessons. I felt so happy I couldn't hide my enthusiasm, and my parents were very proud of me. I felt like this was meant to be for me, I felt comfortable and full. I understood then that I felt this way because I was being real with myself and with my desire, I was accepting myself and doing what I wanted and not what others expected from me.

This could be a possible draft for the topic I chose. Now you do the same with the topic you relate to.
