1. The resolution of the giver is that Gabe and the main character, Jonas escape from there utopia. This is shown in the line,”He settled himself on the sled and hugged Gabe close. The hill was steep but the snow was powdery and soft, and he knew that this time there would be no ice, no fall, no pain. Inside his freezing body, his heart surged with hope.” (Lowry,444). Reading the line hugged Gabe close shows that they left together.

2. The theme of the book by Lois Lowry, The Giver is memory. The reason memory is the theme is Jonas only got them when the Giver gave them to humble. “He wondered what lay in the far distance where he had never gone. The land didn't end beyond those nearby community. Were there hills Elsewhere? Were there vast wind-torn areas like the place he had seen in memory, the place where the elephants died” (Lowry,106). Jonas remembered the memory that the Giver gave him, the memory of elephants.
