Memories in the Fall

In Fall, the world beneath, plundered into the unseeing deep,

And men arose and gave a bitter cry, a shook a spear up to the sky,

The clashing of the swords beneath, the piercing shrieks above,

The mother left childish, bitter, alone,

The father gone, forgotten, forlorn,

The wife's anguishing shrieks pierce the sky,

The maiden's wail unending it seems,

The children ragged, tattered, dumb,

The flag cast down, that fiery night,

Their world was turned upside down.

In winter, the world beneath was cold as ice,

The rivers frozen, the ground hard,

The trees withered, fallen, deceased,

The dead arise as we speak,

The people silent, the dead strewn,

The world upturned, the horrors fill the air,

The blackened world lies lifeless and bleak,

And the land filled with silence.

But through it all we see the king, decapitated and bleak,

The Governor through it all, woefully short, who led the people through dire needs,

Was brought low, head departed, and gone from life,

The one who soared high, the apex of the ladder,

was forgotten, dead, forgotten,

A nightmare, a forgotten dream,

Never wished to return, never wished to relive,

The ending was harsh, the consequences hard, the results deadly, and never gone.

The withered tree, once dead, now alive, the people return home from afar,

The tattered band marched across the lands,

Fending pirates, robbers, thieves,

Returning home to what they lost,

Returning to a bleak wilderness whose history was gone,

Returning to the woe that brought them despair,

Returning to their history, to their homeland in there,

& rebuilding the city, so marvelous, so strong,

With gates of iron, and stone walls,

The city revived, the merry sounds came,

The ordained king returns to what was their own,

The city jubilant with sounds of praise,

The city lives on for centuries to come,

In what we learn from this we see,

The Fall was brought to them indeed,

But from the ashes they rise, without comprimise,

To relive the legend at the end,

& to continue the legend from then, and forever more,

To continue the book closed long ago,

& to continue history as it would be told,

That a nation without law or fear, returned to what it was made.

femininity is conveyed through bernice's personality. she doesn't act how the other girls act and everyone thinks she is weird. she learns how to act in a way that was considered femininely appropriate at the time. she becomes so popular but her attempts to be liked end up backfiring when she is pressured into bobbing her hair. the author wrote that bernice cut off her cousin's hair in revenge for tricking her to cut her hair. this was the authors way of trying to change the way feminine is defined and the way women are expected to act.
