At recess, as my classmates talk of days ahead,
i stare at kindergartners rushing to the swing-set—
like multicolored waves in an untamed ocean.

cresting over the rubber tire swing, one boy stops
to let a little girl go first. her smile sings and,
to everyone watching, is catching.

the dark wet pavement reminds me spring looms,
when kids and flowers bloom all over
the playground. soon

these kids will be like us—looking forward
to junior high and more.
for now, they curl around each moment,
as i watch from the shore.

which vivid word choice does the author use to describe the kindergarten students?
a) classmates
b) these kids
c) wet pavement
d) multicolored waves

Match the bolded words in the excerpts to their contextual meanings. unoriginal well-groomed numerous he was a gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored and imperially slim. (from "richard cory" by edwin arlington robinson) this debt we pay to human guile; with torn and bleeding hearts we smile, and mouth with myriad subtleties. (from "we wear the mask" by paul lawrence dunbar) . .if it must, these things are important not because a high-sounding interpretation can be put upon them but because they are useful. when they become so derivative as to become unintelligible, the same thing may be said for all of us, that we do not admire what we cannot understand. .
