Determine which sources are reliable.  CHOOSE 3.

1. a journal article written by a professor at a respected university  (At a respected university, faculty members are supposed to be knowledgeable, so this article should be a reliable source.)

2. a magazine article on dinosaurs written by an expert paleontologist (Paleontology is the science of the forms of life existing in former geologic periods, as represented by their fossils. So an expert paleontologist surely knows a lot about dinosaurs.)

3. an online article that cites several reliable sources throughout it. (If an article uses reliable sources of information, then this article can be considered reliable, too.)

Unreliable/not fully reliable sources:

a book about technology advancements that was written in 1970  (We don't know whether the author is knowledgeable about the subject or not, so we can't call the source reliable.)

a website devoted to only religious viewpoints on the negative effects of war  (Religious writers are known to be strongly against war, so you can hardly expect a variety of views on the matter. The information provided will probably be slanted or selective. Such information isn't necessarily untruthful, but it may omit certain facts, thus not giving a complete picture of the subject.)

1. read the following excerpt from franklin d. roosevelt's "fireside chat 19":

on the other side of the picture, we must learn also to know that guerilla warfare against the germans in, let us say serbia or norway, us; that a successful russian offensive against the germans us; and that british successes on land or sea in any part of the world strengthen our hands.

remember always that germany and italy, regardless of any formal declaration of war, consider themselves at war with the united states at this moment just as much as they consider themselves at war with britain or russia. and germany puts all the other republics of the americas into the same category of enemies. the people of our sister republics of this hemisphere can be honored by that fact.
