What are the repercussions of a society that focuses on maximizing leisure and minimizing grit?

Extremes are usually harmful. Societies in which grit and hard work are maximized - such as the Japanese society - are known for leading people into stress, depression, and even suicide due to the amount of pressure they have to withstand.

On the other hand, societies that maximize leisure may end up causing more harm than good as well. When leisure is maximized, hard work and grit sound like a punishment. People are usually looking forward to seeing results - fame, money, acknowledgement - but don't really want to climb the mountain that leads there. Such form of laziness might cause people to look for shortcuts, for ways to do the bare minimum in order to enjoy life more. Mediocrity might become a part of what is produced, and only few individuals do accomplish what they aim for, because they are the only ones willing to fight and suffer for it.

Yet, leisure is still important. It is a basic need and, without it, people might work hard, but won't be able to reap the rewards they deserve. Balance is crucial, thus. If societies are able to balance grit and leisure, results at work and school will be the ones to be maximized, as well as people's level of happiness and sense of fulfillment.

i would say that impartial is agreeing with something, because impartial means to treat your rivals, arguments, and reasoning equally and fair. so if you rival says something, agreeing on it means you did the impartial.
