Meg, Charles and Calvin embark on a journey to the planet Camazotz, to rescue their father, who was captured and taken to Camazotz by the forces of evil. They would face the Black Thing on this planet. Meg managed to change aspects of her personality like anger, impatience and lack of self-confidence, winning and being victorious. Charles, no matter how small or young, is extremely intelligent enough to read minds and understand nonhuman creatures. He used it to face the challenges of this planet. Calvin took care of them and protected them. He was always together and holding hands, secret to face the forces of evil. By the time Charles is left in that planet, Meg must rescue him too, returning to Camazots. She had to understand that at this point, it would not be wise for her to get angry or impatient, for such things could disrupt her. She also discovers that the greatest weapon she could use against these evil forces would be her ability to love.
