The Articles of Confederation had many weaknesses and strengths. The first strength is it allowed formation of new states that had a population of more than 60,000. It was the first written agreement and first constitution of USA.  It allowed the Department of Treasury, the Department of Postal Service and the Department of Foreign Affairs were established  Postal service, admiralty court, coin money. The first weakness is there was only one vote per state, regardless of its size. Another weakness was  no national army or navy. One last weakness is any changes to Articles required unanimous vote leading to long delays in implementation
