1. describe a goal for interpersonal improvement in your personal life. be sure to explain the following:

• what aspects of your own interpersonal communication skills would you like to improve?
• how far are you from attaining this goal?
• do you think this goal is set too high or too low? why, or why not?
• how long will it take me to attain this goal?
• if the goal will take a long time to attain, could you set smaller goals that you could attain while still working toward your bigger goal?
• how will you benefit from successfully attaining your goal?

this is what i have so far

my goal is to do the very best i can do in my classes so i can pass this course. my goal is very realistic and can be achieved. all i need to do is keep that in my mind and have a little more confidence in myself. i need to improve on when i don’t understand something not to be so afraid of asking for when i need it. i also need to improve on learning to use the library and the tutoring that argosy university has to offer. i feel i still have a lot to learn before i can achieve this goal. yes, this goal is set a little high for me, because i expect to do good in my courses and i just feel like i am not understanding it very well. i am bad at when i set a goal i have to be the very best at what i do. i really hope to have my goal achieved by the time i finish this course. i can set smaller goals just by getting my assignments done in time and not rush around and do it all in one day. i’m not sure if i could rewrite my goal so it is not set to high or too low, because i am always wanting the best when it comes to doing my best in everything that i do. i need to manage my time a lot better than i have been. the benefits i will attain by the time i finish this course is that i will be better at communicating and understanding the computer a lot better than i do now.

Read the excerpt from muir's essay "calypso borealis" and answer the question. [5] how long i sat beside calypso i don't know. hunger and weariness vanished, and only after the sun was low in the west i splashed on through the swamp, strong and exhilarated as if never more to feel any mortal care. at length i saw maple woods on a hill and found a log house. i was gladly received. "where ha ye come fra? the swamp, that awfu' swamp. what were ye doin' there? " etc. "mony a puir body has been lost in that muckle, cauld, dreary bog and never been found." when i told her i had entered it in search of plants and had been in it all day, she wondered how plants could draw me to these awful places, and said, "it's god's mercy ye ever got out." examine the details muir includes in this paragraph. which statement accurately explains how muir's response to nature compares to the log house owner's response? he is enthusiastic and in awe while she is doubtful and fearful. muir cautiously admires whereas the lady shows religious dedication. the lady is more interested in the bog while muir is fascinated by plants. they both admire nature—its intense dangers and its true treasures.

Which line in this excerpt from the great gatsby by f. scott fitzgerald contains a simile? about half way between west egg and new york the motor-road hastily joins the railroad and runs beside it for a quarter of a mile, so as to shrink away from a certain desolate area of land. this is a valley of ashes—a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air. occasionally a line of grey cars crawls along an invisible track, gives out a ghastly creak and comes to rest, and immediately the ash-grey men swarm up with leaden spades and stir up an impenetrable cloud which screens their obscure operations from your sight.
