"A Cub Pilot” by Mark Twain is a nonfiction story. Its uniqueness lies in its interesting text with different yet similar characters. Twain was an apprentice cub pilot working on a steamboat and Mr. Brown was a pro pilot. Mr. Bixby was the Captain-in-chief in the steamboat. He was a role model to young Mark Twain as he represents perseverance. He helped him to endure the abuse initiated by Mr. Brown. Mr. Bixby saved young Twain for abuse and eventually kicked Mr. Brown off the boat.
