Among the different motifs in the novel, the reader could refer to mockingbird theme which is mentioned in different parts of the novel. From one hand the mockingbird could be the interpretation of Tom Robinson's character, consequently in his wrongful conviction, failed escape and unfortunate death as a symbol of harmless and defenseless mockingbird, from the other hand it symbolizes Boo Radley, a good-hearted character who carries the hidden traits of mockingbird while saving the life of children. As a result, Boo Radley kills this evil character, Bob Ewell, the writer compares the former to the mockingbird, indicating that it will be cruel to shoot a mockingbird.
