Read the excerpt from “a poem for my librarian, mrs. long.” there was always a radio which brought us songs from wlac in nashville and what we would now call easy listening or smooth jazz but when i listened late at night with my portable (that i was so proud of) tucked under my pillow what conclusion can the reader draw about the speaker’s viewpoint on music? she feels that music was even more important than books because it brought her community together. she feels that music added joy and comfort to her life in much the same way that books did. she believes that the musicians of her time were not fully appreciated for their talents. she believes that today’s music is a poor imitation of what music was when she was a child
