You need to design an advanced antenna system to be installed on a base station of a future wireless communication system where mobile users receive dedicated beams. Since the actual location of mobile users can only be determined in real time, the advanced antenna system is a phased array antenna because it can be controlled to change the direction of its main beam in real-time. The phased array antenna consists of 4 rectangular probe fed patch antennas (the same type of antenna used in HW 8), which are aligned and separated by half-wavelength from each other. The frequency of operation is (10+NN/10) GHz (where NN are the last two digits of your UIN). To complete this project you need to: • Design the array antenna system using HFSS. Assume that a user is located along the direction that makes an angle of (90+3(9-2N)) degrees with the direction of the array elements, where N is the last digit of your UIN. Assume that all antenna elements are fed with currents having the same amplitude but different phases, which you need to determine depending upon the location of the user. Determine the phase of each antenna element to aim the beam towards the direction of the user and quantify the sharpness of the beam by computing its 3 dB beamwidth. • Verify that the results obtained with Ansys are in agreement with the theory by making comparisons, using Matlab, with the radiation pattern of an array antenna obtained using the principle of pattern multiplication described in section 14.15 of your textbook (formula 14.207). According to this principle, radiation pattern of an antenna is given by the product of the array factor (in the case of this project the array factor is due to the 4 elements that are aligned and separated by a halfwavelength) with the radiation pattern of the individual element (for the rectangular patch antenna refer to chapter 14 of [1] , in particular, equation (14.41) provides the theoretical expression of the radiated field along an arbitrary direction).

Apump is used to circulate hot water in a home heating system. water enters the well-insulated pump operating at steady state at a rate of 0.42 gal/min. the inlet pressure and temperature are 14.7 lbf/in.2, and 180°f, respectively; at the exit the pressure is 60 lbf/in.2 the pump requires 1/15 hp of power input. water can be modeled as an incompressible substance with constant density of 60.58 lb/ft3 and constant specific heat of 1 btu/lb or. neglecting kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the temperature change, in °r, as the water flows through the pump.
