Most of the following passages exemplify either a formal fallacy or an informal fallacy. If a formal fallacy is committed, identify the argument form, using capital letters to stand for terms or statements (e. g., "All A are B; all C are B; so, all A are C"). If an informal fallacy is committed, name the type of fallacy and explain why the passage is an example of that type. (In the case of ad hominem fallacies, indicate whether they are abusive, circumstantial, or tu quoque in type.) If no fallacy is committed, simply write "Not a fallacy."Dr. Herzheimer has written essays criticizing self-help books from the standpoint of logic and science. I realize Dr. Herzheimer is a famous philosopher, but I think it’s immature and cold-hearted to criticize people who are trying to help others get their lives together. Thus, I myself give no credence to Dr. Herzheimer’s work whatsoever.
