Setout is required to start excavation of a new incline. To start it is necessary to calculate the intersection points on the centreline of two existing parallel drives, A and
B. You have two existing stations located on the centreline of the existing drives with
the co-ordinates shown below.
BS250 in A
Easting
1130.271
Northing
6178.452
RL
2061.666
BS451 in B
Easting
1378.44
Northing
6147.16
RL
2022.5
The centreline of drive A has a bearing of 45°10' and a grade of -1:150 in that
direction. The centreline of drive B has a bearing of 45°10' and a grade of 1:75 in that
direction.
The new incline has a bearing of 357°21'. These are shown in the figure below.
Calculate the three dimensional co-ordinates for the centreline intersection points that
give a grade for the incline of 1:8.

An engine, weighing 3000 n, is supported on a pedestal mount. it has been observed that the engine induces vibration into the surrounding area through its pedestal at the maximum operating speed. determine the stiffness of the dynamic vibration absorber spring in (n/m) that will reduce the vibration when mounted on the pedestal. the magnitude of the exciting force is 250 n, and the amplitude of motion of the auxiliary mass is to be limited to 2 mm note: in this question type-in right numbers, no decimals, no fractions, no unit. approximate to right number if needed
