Steam flows steadily through an adiabatic turbine. The inlet conditions of the steam are 4 MPa, 500C, and 80 m/s, and the exit conditions are 92 percent quality, and 50 m/s. The mass flow rate of the steam is 12 kg/s. Investigate the effect of the turbine exit pressure on the power output of the turbine. Let the exit pressure vary from 10 to 200 kPa (10 different pressure namely 10, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200 kpa is enough). Prepare a table and two plot as follows:
• Tabulate turbine exit pressure, the power output of the turbine and turbine exit temperature (the table template is below)
• Plot the power output against the exit pressure,
• Plot the exit temperature against the exit pressure,
• and discuss the results

Air is to be cooled in the evaporator section of a refrigerator by passing it over a bank of 0.8-cm-outer-diameter and 0.4-m-long tubes inside which the refrigerant is evaporating at -20°c. air approaches the tube bank in the normal direction at 0°c and 1 atm with a mean velocity of 4 m/s. the tubes are arranged in-line with longitudinal and transverse pitches of sl- st 1.5 cm. there are 30 rows in the flow direction with 15 tubes in each row. determine (a) the refrigeration capacity of this system and (b) pressure drop across the tube bank. evaluate the air properties at an assumed mean temperature of -5°c and 1 atm. is this a good assumption?
