A core-type transformer has a mean magnetic path length of 0.85 m and a cross-section of 0.0066 m^2 . The core is made from silicon sheet steel and has primary and secondary windings with 250 and 750 turns, respectively. A source with a voltage of 240 V (RMS) at 50 Hz. is used to drive the arrangement. When the primary winding is placed across this source, with the secondary open-circuited, the real power drawn is 20 Watts. Answer the following questions about the configuration. Required:
a. Find total exciting current when the 250-turn winding is placed across the source with the secondary open circuited.
b. Find the angle of the exciting current with respect to the source voltage in Part A.
c. Find the source current, in polar form, if the primary winding is connected to the source and a purely resistive load of 1,200 is connected across the secondary winding?
