A criticism of Atterberg limits tests is that the tests are performed on thoroughly remolded samples of soil. Because of the remolding, it is argued that the results of the tests have little or no bearing on the behavior of undisturbed samples of soil. Give one practical example of the use of Atterberg limits and defend such usage against the type of criticism just mentioned.
