Oil at a mass flow rate of 15,000 lbm/hr is heated in a heat exchanger from 800F to 2050F. The heat capacity of the oil can be assumed constant at 0.49 BTU/lbm-0F. The oil flows through the inside of the tubes (1.0-in. inside diameter and combined length of 400 ft). The required heat is supplied by saturated steam condensing on the outside of the tubes, keeping the temperature of the inside surface of the tubes at a constant value of 2150F. Calculate:
a. The total rate of heat transfer, in BTU/hr.
b. The total surface area for heat transfer, in ft^2.
c. The logarithmic mean temperature difference, in 0°F.
d. The heat-transfer coefficient based on the logarithmic mean temperature difference, in BTU/hr-ft^2-0F.
