A two-stage compressor is used to compress 15 moles/s of carbon dioxide gas at 300 K and 100 kPa. The first stage compresses the gas to 400 kPa and the second stage from 400 kPa to 2000 kPa. Assume that first compressor is well insulated and has an isentropic efficiency of 80% but the second compressor is well insulated and well lubricated. There is no cooling between the compressors. Calculate the power required (to nearest kW) for each stage compressor and the entropy generated (to nearest W/K) by each compressor. Assume that carbon dioxide behaves as an ideal gas and its cp* (J/mol-K)= 25+ 0.2 T

Describe one experiment in which the glass transition temperature and melting temperature of a totally amorphous thermoplastic material can be determined. show the relevant experimental results in a diagram which should be properly annotated with the two temperatures clearly marked. what is likely to happen to the curve in the diagram if the amorphous polymer is replaced by a thermosetting type?
