You have to design a network between 7 cities, (A thru F are arranged forming an hexagon and the seventh "G" is the center). Consider carefully the design restrictions because you have a limited number of components and the fiber distance is also a limitation.
There will be an optical switch in each city that supports 5 ports. Each port is a pair of fibers, one for transmission and the other for reception.
Each fiber supports 4 colors ( C1 to C4).
Each switch can handle 20 independent connections ( 5 ports, 4 colors each).
One port must be reserved for the traffic destination in the city, the remaining four are for long distance.
The max distance for a fiber link with no amplifiers is 100 KM.
All distances between neighbor cities are 100 km (not the actual logic links or light-paths).
There are only 4 EDFA available.
There are 10 grating devices (color splitters / combiners for both directions)
Create a design that will allow at least four connections from each city to other four. (Only Four fiber pairs allowed to terminate in a city).
Include the total cost of your solution for bonus 10 points:
The cost of a switch is $100K, an amplifier is $50K, 100km of fiber are $1M. (grating cost is not considered)
Provide:
1. Diagram of the detailed structure of the switch design.
2. City map diagram illustrating the physical fiber connectivity
3. Color links between different cities (when they are not directly attached through a direct fiber, try to avoid interference)
4. Turn in scanned procedure before deadline.

Air enters a horizontal, constant-diameter heating duct operating at steady state at 290 k, 1 bar, with a volumetric flow rate of 0.25 m°/s, and exits at 325 k, 0.95 bar. the flow area is 0.04 m2. assuming the ideal gas model with k = 1.4 for the air, determine (a) the velocity at the inlet and exit, each in m/s, and (c) the rate of heat transfer, in kw flow rate, in kg/s, (b) the mass kg 0.3
