New additive manufacturing processes for producing parts such as selective laser melting (SLM) of metal powders essentially produce the material microstructure and the part geometry at the same time. Do you think it would be easier to substantially change the elastic modulus or the yield strength by altering the additive manufacturing process for a given alloy? Why?
