A communication system consists of blocks of the transmitter and the receiver of 4-bit messages. Messages represent 3-bit codes (B2, B1, B0) and parity bit P generated at the transmitter side for odd parity. The parity checker at the receiver asserts output E (E=1) if parity was changed. With no change of parity, output E=0. Obtain the following a) Truth tables for P and E.
b) Implement both the parity bit generator and the parity checker with XOR2 or XNOR2 gates. Show the schematics. The parity bit generator has 3 inputs and output P. The checker has 4 inputs and output E.

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater

Water vapor initially at 10 bar and 400 °c is contained within a piston-cylinder assembly. the water lost heat to the surrounding according to isochoric (iso-volumetric) process until its temperature is 150 °c. the water is then condensed isothermally to saturated liquid. for the water as a system, calculate the work in kj/kg
