In plating a continuous strip of steel 0.9 m wide with Sn from an acid solution (valence charge=2), the desired strip speed is 500 m/min., current efficiency is 100%, and the thickness of tin plate is to be 0.4 μm (on each side) at a current density of 5000 A/m2. How long must the plating tank be assuming that the strip passes straight through the tank with no returns or bends? (density of Sn=7.31 g/cc, atomic weight of Sn=118.7).
