Suppose we have a cache that can hold a total of 256 bytes with 4 words per block.

Suppose that the cache is designed as a 4-way set associative cache. Compute the set index, offset, and the tag for the following addresses:

0x00000004

0x00000014

0x01000004

0x00000008

0x00000018

0x01000008

In designing the cache controller, we would like to simplify the division and mod operations required for computing the set index, offset, and tags. Specifically, for the cache design given above, we can partition the 32 bits in the address into three fields, one each for the set index, offset, and the tags. State which bits from the address will be used to compute each of the set index, offset, and the tag.

For each of the addresses given above, give another address that will be mapped to the same set but have a different tag.

Suppose that the cache is now designed as a fully associative cache. Compute the offset and the tag for the same set of addresses.

Apump is used to circulate hot water in a home heating system. water enters the well-insulated pump operating at steady state at a rate of 0.42 gal/min. the inlet pressure and temperature are 14.7 lbf/in.2, and 180°f, respectively; at the exit the pressure is 60 lbf/in.2 the pump requires 1/15 hp of power input. water can be modeled as an incompressible substance with constant density of 60.58 lb/ft3 and constant specific heat of 1 btu/lb or. neglecting kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the temperature change, in °r, as the water flows through the pump.

Adouble-strand no. 60 roller chain is used to transmit power between a 13-tooth driving sprocket rotating at 300 rev/min and a 52-tooth driven sprocket. a) what is the allowable horsepower of this drive? b) estimate the center-to-center distance if the chain length is 82 pitches. c) estimate the torque and bending force on the driving shaft by the chain if the actual horsepower transmitted is 30 percent less than the corrected (allowable) power.
