The displacement volume of a 4-stroke internal combustion engine is 2.8 liters. The processes within each cylinder of the engine are modeled as an air standard Diesel cycle with a compression ratio of 16.2 and a cutoff ratio of 2.3. The state of the air at the beginning of compression is fixed by P1 = 1.4 bar, T1 = 340 K. The engine speed is 4200 RPM. Determine the following: a) p-v diagram of the process with the states clearly labeled. by the compression ratie: c) the maximum temperature, in K and maximum pressure, in bars. d) the net work per cycle, in kJ. e) the power developed by the engine, in kW. f) the thermal efficiency. g) vary the cut-off ratio parametrically between 1.5 and 3, and plot the efficiency, the work per cycle, the power and the highest temperature (T3) as a function of this cut-off ratio.
