10 tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) is burned directly in a boiler to generate saturated steam at 200°C. Water enters the boiler at 20°C. The heating value of MSW is 18,000 kJ/kg and the boiler efficiency is 75 percent. Determine the amount of steam generated. The generated steam is run through a turbine-generator unit to generate electricity. The steam pressure at the turbine exit is 100 kPa. If the turbine isentropic efficiency is 85 percent and the generator efficiency is 95 percent, determine the amount of electricity produced. How much revenue can be generated if the electricity is sold at a price of $0.11/kWh

Acompressor compresses a gas, a pump compresses a liquid. for a given pressure ratio, why does it take more work to compress a gas in a compressor than a liquid in a pump? a)- for a given pressure ratio the average specific volume for a gas is much higher than the average specific volume for a liquid. b)- there is no difference. the only difference is the amount of heat generated (not work) c)- for a given pressure ratio the average volurge for a gas is much higher than the average volume for a liquid. d)-there is no difference

Plot schematically the tensile stress versus strain curves for a typical thermoplastic material at a temperature below its glass transition temperature (tg and at a temperature above its tg, respectively. do the same for a typical thermosetting material. list in a table any differences or similarities between the two materials at t> tg and t < tg, respectively, and relate them to the structures of the two types of polymers
