You are given the 500-mb heights and absolute vorticity maps at 12Z on December 31. You are also given near-surface temperatures (40 meters above the ground) for the same time.

12Z 12/31 500-mb Heights
12Z 12/31 500-mb Abs. Vorticity
12Z 12/31 40m Temperature

At the time the seed of the snowstorm started to sprout, there was a potent short-wave trough at 500 mb associated with a powerful surface low-pressure system that was moving away from the coast of Maine. There was also a short-wave trough at 500 mb over the upper Middle West associated with an "Alberta Clipper", which is a modest surface low-pressure system that usually brings only a nuisance snow along and north of its path. The reason I mention these two systems is that I want to point you away from them. Just so you won't get confused -- neither one of these systemsserved as the catalyst for triggering the low-pressure system that ultimately dumped heavy snow in eastern Pennsylvania. In other words, ignore these two short-wave troughs!

At this time a weak surface low has just formed. Complete the following statement: The newly formed surface low is located at approximately N W (latitude/longitude... ex. "36N 70W") and (relative location... ex. "east/west", "upstream/downstream", etc ) of the 500-mb short wave trough axis. Note: A range of values will of course be accepted for the longitude/latitude estimate of the surface low's position.

An open feedwater heater operates at steady state with liquid entering at inlet 1 with t? = 40°c and pl = 1 .2 mpa. water vapor att2-200°c and p2 = 1.2 mpa enters at inlet 2. saturated liquid water exits with a pressure of pa 1.2 mpa. neglect heat transfer with the surroundings and all kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the mass flow rate of steam at inlet 2 if the mass flow rate of liquid water at inlet 1 is given as 2 kg/s.
