Kinetics of a fermentation culture on limited glucose has been determined by batch cultures that the maximum specific growth rate of cell growth is 0.2 h-1, and the glucose concentration is 28.6 mg/L when the specific growth rate reaches 0.1 h-1. For continuous production by this process with a 5L CSTR, 1) Design the liquid flow rate and the hydraulic retention time to ensure that the residual glucose concentration flowing out of the reactor is lower than 100 mg/L during steady state; 2) What is the cell concentration under this steady state given yield coefficient YX/S is 0.5g/g and initial glucose concentration is 500 mg/L?
