If the general fine on libraries was $10 a day, I would only borrow the books that I really need and compromise to organize my schedule in order to return the book on time. In addition, if I borrow books from the library very often, I would make sure to have a savings box for emergency cases in which I am unable to return the book on time.

Increasing the fines in libraries may not be the best option for many people who take care of books and return them on time, however, if libraries experience an increase in delays, this method could potentially encourage a more responsible behavior. For those who are responsible, some libraries eliminate these fees in exchange of donation of canned goods, which is also a good alternative.
